Highgrove x bottlegreen English Rose & Raspberry Cordial

Highgrove x bottlegreen English Rose & Raspberry Cordial is a fruit and floral cordial made with British raspberry juice and English rose extract. Created in partnership with Cotswold drinks maker bottlegreen, it pays tribute to the roses His Majesty The King has planted at Highgrove, his private residence near Tetbury in Gloucestershire.

The roses were not in flower when bottlegreen’s flavour expert, Lynne McAlpine, toured the gardens, yet they still earned their place in the range. “While The King’s roses planted in the courtyard were not yet in bloom,” she explains, “it felt like they were a vital part of the gardens that deserved to be recognised through our drinks.”
In the glass, ripe raspberry leads, bright and gently sharp, before the fragrance of rose comes through. Neither overpowers the other, and the effect is elegant, summery and unmistakably English in character.
Dilute to taste with chilled still or sparkling water and plenty of ice. Sliced strawberries or a twist of citrus complement the flavours beautifully. It is a natural choice for afternoon tea, summer picnics and lunch in the garden, and a considered alcohol-free option when there is something to celebrate.

Like its two companions in the Highgrove x bottlegreen range, the cordial is produced in the heart of the Cotswolds. Small batches are blended with spring water drawn from bottlegreen’s original mill, following traditional winemaking methods that bring balance and depth to the finished drink. Nothing artificial is added: there are no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners, and the recipe is suitable for vegans.
The 500ml bottle is beautifully illustrated, making it a pleasure to give as well as to pour. It is a thoughtful present for a rose lover, a keen gardener or a summer host, and a lovely way to bring a taste of Highgrove’s gardens to your own table.
