About Alexandra Stewart Carter

The true joy of Alexandra’s work lies in creating one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect her clients’ personalities. Each commission begins with inspiration, colours, animals, patterns, moods, and occasions that gradually evolve into something deeply personal for both maker and recipient.

Alexandra’s creative career in traditional arts spans more than twenty years. With a background in fine art framing and decorative marbling, she developed her skills through a decade of hands-on experience with master artisans. Her love of antiques led her naturally into framing, where she discovered the intricate beauty of gilding, faux painting, and woodcraft.

Today, decoupage under glass is Alexandra’s artistic focus, blending her passion for heritage techniques with modern creative expression. She continues framing the exquisite oil paintings of her daughter, Phoebe Stewart Carter, a talented fine art painter in her own right.

Working from her home studio in Tetbury, at the heart of the Cotswolds, Alexandra crafts each piece amidst the region’s rich history of fine art and antiques.
