The Wildflower Meadow at Highgrove was introduced by His Majesty The King and Dame Miriam Rothschild over 35 years ago. Together, they devised a seed mix of over 120 different species that were typical of the natural flora of Gloucestershire. The Meadow is now thriving and attracts a diverse spectrum of wildlife.

Create your own patch of wildflower meadow in your garden with this special seed mix, made from some of the varieties found in the Wildflower Meadow at Highgrove.

When to sow
The Highgrove Wildflower Seed Mix is best sown from late August to late October or again from early March to mid-April. Good ground preparation and a weed-free surface are key. If the site can be kept watered, seeding can take place any time from the beginning of March to the end of October. Sowing in autumn is recommended, as sowing in early spring may result in the yellow rattle in the mix failing and needing to be resown in the autumn.
