Andrea Spencer: Exploring Nature Through Glass

    Andrea Spencer maintains a studio in rural Ballintoy on the North Antrim Coast. A large part of her practice includes flame-worked glass and mixed media to create ephemeral installations and delicate sculptural objects. Her work is inspired by nature, drawing on natural forms and structures to create pieces which correlate with aspects of the human condition.

    Exhibition Highlights and Commissions: Showcasing New Work and Acquisitions

    She regulatory exhibits her work nationally and internationally. Recent Exhibitions include Collect Open 2024, The British Glass Biennale, Ireland Glass Biennale and Made in Ireland Survey Show of Craft. Her work is held in significant public collections. She was recently commissioned by the National Museums Ireland to create a piece for the Natural History Museum, Dublin.

    Honours and Teaching: Recognitions, Awards, and Educational Contributions

    Andrea was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust Award 2022 and has received numerous awards from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

    She teaches at glass schools and private studios through out the UK, Europe and the USA and offers workshops, classes and experiences from her own full-featured flame-working and kiln-forming studio.
