Great Houses and Gardens of England

Phoebe has created a series of modern conversation pieces that showcase behind-the-scenes glimpses of life in the British stately home today. The inspiration for this comes from the new generation of homeowners transforming these great houses and channelling Sargent, William Nicholson, and Dutch Golden Age Masters.

Phoebe was granted unparalleled access to capture unexpected glimpses of iconic houses such as Blenheim PalaceHoughton Hall, and Castle Howard, as well as more private settings like Iford Manor. She used a variety of mediums, such as conversation pieces, interiors, landscapes, and still life, to showcase the beauty and creativity of these places.

Her intention for this exhibition is to celebrate how these places have evolved as each generation makes its mark. She hopes to highlight the beauty and creativity of these beautiful houses and gardens and how they continue to inspire and captivate people today.

    Visiting Highgrove Gardens

Phoebe visited Highgrove Gardens in July 2023 to capture the essence of the gardens in the height of summer.

Phoebe said she adored visiting the gardens and is thrilled to feature the two oil paintings of the Thyme Walk and Wildflower Meadow at the exhibition. Phoebe particularly loved the creativity of the gardens and how His Majesty King Charles III used techniques often disregarded by others to transform areas of the garden into beautiful creations.

“I was completely overexcited and blown away by the gardens at Highgrove,” says Phoebe.

“Since I knew I only had a day there, I tore around the gardens at lightning speed with my easel and backpack of paints.”

“I chose to paint the wildflower meadow in the morning as I was drawn to the dappled sunlight on the flowers, and in the afternoon, I couldn’t resist painting the iconic Thyme Walk,” she continues.

“I’m so thrilled to sell these paintings and help raise money for The King’s Foundation.”
