Autumn Garden Tips

Table of Contents

The nights are drawing in and the leaves are falling from the trees, but there is still plenty to do to keep the Gardens at Highgrove growing. Whether your garden is the size of ours, or a small patch of green, there is still plenty to be doing. Here are our tips:

    Plant your spring bulbs

The remaining warmth in the soil will help your bulbs germinate, ready to give you a flourish of colour come spring.

    Harvest ripe fruits and vegetables

Apples, squash and cabbages should be ripe and ready to be eaten, make sure you get them before the frost does!

    Prune your roses

Once your roses have finished flowering, cut them back and tie them securely to prevent them from being damaged in the unpredictable autumn weather.

    Clear fallen leaves

Not only will it make your garden look tidier, fallen leaves can be used as mulch for your borders.

    Look after your local wildlife

Food is getting scarce this time of the year so leave fresh water, birdseed and other appropriate food out to encourage wild birds, hedgehogs and other critters into your garden.

    Shop our garden range

We have a range of items to keep your garden looking its best, from beautiful bulbs to perfect pots.

The sale of highgrove products, garden tours and events support the charitable work of the kings foundation.
