From Paper to Art: Create Your Own Kitchen Garden Design

The workshop begins with a short demonstration on how torn, printed paper can be manipulated before being fixed with a water-based glue stick. This produces rich, textured results that often belie the medium. You’ll have real fruit and vegetables to study and identify. You’ll also receive a simple colour palette of paper to use for building a collage, guided by Penny. A small black metal wall frame is provided so you can mount your finished piece to take home. Drawing skills are not needed.

Programme

  • 10:00am - Guests arrive; workshop session begins
  • 11:00am - Tea, coffee and cake
  • 11:30am - Workshop session resumes
  • 1:30pm - Workshop ends; guests depart

About Penny Lindner

Penny Lindner has been creating collage art for many years alongside her career as a photographer, stylist, and graphic artist. In recent years, she has also begun running workshops near her Cotswold hometown of Chipping Campden.

Her journey into collage began with a simple idea: to utilise the paper she already had around the house, including magazines, sketchbooks, and other discarded materials. She soon discovered how colour, texture, and pattern could be repurposed to capture the essence of a subject in a playful and unique way. Early still-life studies of fruit and vegetables from her garden evolved into a broader exploration of themes, with each piece becoming a distinctive work of mixed-media art.

The process of selecting and arranging paper is both immersive and rewarding, with striking results. Because the materials are easy to source and the techniques accessible, Penny’s workshops often inspire students to continue experimenting at home and discover the joy of collage for themselves.
